Terms of Service

1. 1.The service

   Nihora provides reading, listening, speaking and writing lessons; kana and kanji tables; grammar patterns; practice exercises; spaced-repetition vocabulary review (SRS); a JLPT mock exam; an Indonesian, English and Japanese translator; curated articles about Japan; and a study schedule that can sync with Google Calendar.

   The translator and the articles page work without an account. Everything else requires one.

2. 2.Your account

   • You can sign up with an email and password (at least 8 characters) or with a Google account.
   • Email accounts are verified through a link we send you. Verification links are valid for 24 hours, password reset links for 1 hour.
   • You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for all activity on your account.
   • One account per person. Paid accounts may not be shared.
   • A sign-in lasts 30 days on each device, after which you sign in again.

3. 3.Plans and payment

   Nihora has three plans: Free, Premium Monthly and Lifetime. Prices and what each plan includes are listed on the Pricing page, in Indonesian Rupiah and tax-inclusive.

   • Nihora does not use a payment gateway. Payment is arranged directly with the admin on WhatsApp, by bank transfer, e-wallet or QRIS.
   • Payments are confirmed daily from 09.00 to 21.00 WIB. Your plan is activated within 24 hours of confirmation.
   • Premium Monthly does not renew automatically. When it ends, your account returns to the Free plan and your learning data is kept.
   • Lifetime is a one-time payment and lasts for as long as Nihora operates.
   • Features labelled "coming soon" are not available yet. We don't promise a release date and they are not part of what you pay for.

4. 4.Refunds

   You can ask for a refund within 7 days of activation, as long as the account hasn't been used heavily. Ask in the same WhatsApp conversation you paid through. After a refund, the account returns to the Free plan.

5. 5.Usage limits and prohibited use

   The Free plan has daily limits: 30 translations, 20 exercise sets and 50 SRS cards per 24 hours, with full access to N5 and part of N4. To keep the service stable, every user is also subject to per-minute request limits.

   You may not:

   • scrape content or use the translator in bulk through automation;
   • work around plan limits, payment or security controls;
   • share or resell access to a paid account;
   • disrupt, attack or overload Nihora's servers.

6. 6.Learning content

   Lessons, example sentences and audio are generated automatically from open data such as Jisho and Tatoeba and from text-to-speech services. We work to keep them accurate, but mistakes can happen.

   Nihora is not affiliated with the official JLPT organisers (The Japan Foundation and JEES). Mock exam scores are practice, not a prediction of an official result.

   Translator output comes from third-party machine translation. Don't rely on it for official, legal or medical documents without a human translator's review.

7. 7.Articles and third-party links

   Articles come from other publishers' RSS feeds and open on the original site. Copyright stays with the publisher, and their content is outside our responsibility.

8. 8.Data you create

   Words you save, your study schedule and your progress remain yours. We store them only to run Nihora's features, as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. 9.Google Calendar

   Schedule sync is optional. If you connect it, Nihora asks for permission to manage calendar events (calendar.events) so it can create, read and remove study sessions. You can revoke this at any time in your Google account settings.

10. 10.Availability

    Nihora is provided as is. It may be interrupted by maintenance or by outages at third-party services, and features may change. We will give notice before a change that reduces what an active paid plan includes.

11. 11.Leaving and suspension

    You can stop using Nihora at any time and delete your account yourself from the Security tab on your Profile page. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Paid accounts closed for a breach are not refunded.

12. 12.Limitation of liability

    To the extent the law allows, our liability for any loss arising from your use of Nihora is limited to the amount you paid Nihora in the previous 12 months.

13. 13.Governing law

    These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia.

14. 14.Changes

    We may update these terms. The effective date at the top will change, and we will email you about significant changes.
